Matthew Klane

New Work

I had already written
“already written”

so I write in bed
watching TV

something a little sad,
a little political

I write through my trauma
towards the tradition

but instead of “tradition”
I write “trad”

Puff Piece

I’ll throw myself
a softball
of marshmallow fluff
sink my teeth in
beef tallow
and call the thinking
philosophy

My Column

Get yourself a poem
who can do both

bat its eyes
like a Gemini

and battle bots
in Times New Roman
